Meet the family
Marcelle, Gareth, Emma, Hannah and Jessica…
COURAGE…. One small word with a massive meaning. The dictionary says courage means: ‘the ability to do something that frightens one; bravery. Strength in the face of pain or grief.
Moving all the way from a small holding in Paarl, to a lodge that entailed 7 wildebeest, a zebra, 8 chalets, a restaurant and bar and an industrial kitchen definitely took courage. This has been such an adventure and has really taught us courage and bravery. The previous name of this lodge was Kwelanga which is ‘sunset’ in Xhosa… And as they say, ‘sunsets are proof that endings can be beautiful’, and so the end of Kwelanga and the beginning of Isibindi has definitely become something beautiful.
Our goal for Isibindi is for people to feel at Peace with nature and experience the beauty of wildlife interaction at its finest. With 7 very cheeky wildebeest, a sassy zebra, named Spot and three very inquisitive horses, there is no doubt that you will enjoy your stay here. We strive to be a welcoming lodge that will almost make you feel like you are part of the family.
Courage, Peace and Love are the three main words that make up our lodge.
When you leave, we want you to feel at Peace, loved and ready for anything life has to offer… Deuteronomy 31:6 says; ‘Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you. We want you to regain your strength and let go of any fear, grief, anger, sadness or pain you had in you when you drove through our gate. We trust that God will fill you with his everlasting Peace and that you’ll encounter Him just as we have here at Isibindi.
The word Isibindi means Courage/Boldness/Bravery and it was a Word that was given to us by God, as He knew what courage it would take to restore this land for Him….
We would really appreciate it if you could write down a few words in our guest book about your stay here. It could be anything – a poem, lyrics from a song, a few kind words or even a joke (we love to have a little giggle every now and then).
We hope that you enjoy your stay here and that you will leave feeling energised, at Peace and ready for whatever life is going to throw your way!
Lots of love from
THE ISIBINDI FOREST RETREAT FAMILY
